Week 7: Place where I build trust with

When I first heard Lyceum when I was in High School, I don’t have any idea yet what’s inside this campus. I enrolled and found out the very unique atmosphere around, it is very cyber looking. It’s like techy dudes and gals are studying there and so I found it interesting. When I entered this school, the ambiance is different, we are welcomed here as freshmen with warmth. Lyceum is unlike any other colleges, other colleges won’t be treating each other like the way Lyceum treats the people inside the campus. Lyceum consists of very talented people and friendly people. Everyone is nice!

I can say that Lyceum changed a bit of my life, this school helped me to stay the same to what I am since then, I’m talking about my personality. Other schools changed students and turned them to something opposite to what they are before and I kind of don’t like that honestly. I am very glad to be in this school. Besides, this is just like High School, I found new friends, good friends and tag along with them everyday.

Lyceum has a high quality education I can say. It doesn’t only develop a student academically but also to extra curricular activities like dancing, acting and singing. Lyceum made me know my talents that I didn’t know I had before ever since! Lyceum enhanced me as a true artist. In some cases, this school improves my relationship to God because of our former professor, Sir Rionel Caldo.

Hence, when talking about academics, I really believe that Lyceum will bring me to something bigger in the future after I graduated. I trust this school that it will give me enough knowledge and skills to do my works on this day forward. In the future, I will remember this school as something that changed my outlook in life for the better, somewhere I created good memories or even bad memories, somewhere I found good people, friends and professors and something that I will cherish in my life. I am still looking forward for more challenges in my stay in Lyceum and I am expecting different happenings, no matter where it takes me, I know that it will make me a better person then. I am proud to be a Lycean!

Week 6: Thriller days (interview)

Basically, before conducting the interview and searching for a company, it was honestly exciting but the moment when the companies don’t respond and even neglects you, it’s just disappointing. So to share my experiences, it was actually a bitter sweet adventure for me. I’ve been to many places searching for companies or even studios, it was tiring, to be true. And honestly, I don’t have that amount of money to go to further places but I didn’t take that as a disadvantage. There are a lot of amazing people around, we just don’t see them because we always look beyond them. Our journey continues, rain or shine, we still kept on looking, it’s obviously not effortless because we did what we could.

Skipping to that part, let’s proceed to the actual interview. As we found out Sir Tom Loyola, I don’t actually expect big just from the appearance of the studio from the outside, we go inside then we were able to talk to him and I was left awestruck to all of what he said. He was really a “MULTI”media artist. He is multi-talented, a superb, to be exact. He talks like a professional, but he is really a professional, I was just quite impressed to that. By doing the interview with him, it was fun, he said a lot of things that we, students can learn about. He talked about following our passion in all of things which is definitely inspiring especially for us, artists who have a lot in mind.

When he started saying his accomplishments and his today’s business, I was speechless and just so amazed to it because he had a lot of works and so many talents and sidelines. Anything you thought that a one man can’t do. Yet, we met him and it is proven that even if you’re just alone, you can do it all, and the secret behind all of it is, “because I like what I’m doing” -Sir Tom Loyola. He is one of a kind. Sir Tom Loyola is a great man, he is a very kind man. He left us words of wisdom and I will live it through my every day life. Therefore, I realized that after doing the interview with him, I don’t need to go to more places because gifted artists are a kilometer away from me, or even meters. I was enlightened because it was like “If I can do it, then you can do it too.” I was encouraged as well to do things that I really want to do ever since because in that way, I could build up business and run it successfully with my heart and mind.

The interview was an extreme experience for me, we encountered a lot of problems and complications but then I felt relieved that we were able to make way and still do it ‘till the end and it’s all thanks to God. Encountering businessmen like these is very challenging. As a student, you don’t know how to get to their position but soon, we’ll know, that’s why it’s exciting. We don’t know what the future holds but our passion as artists will lead us to our destination, whatever or wherever it may be. This interview experience serves also as an eye-opener for me, because I questioned myself, “What will I be when I graduate?” and “What job do I best fit in?” I just wanted to be able to work to what I love to do and that’s all so with the help of this happening, I came to learn what path do I really have to take and what I must take.
All in all, it was a roller coaster experience, nothing more, nothing less.

What I like about CAS?

In my opinion, CAS is the best College in LPU. Haha. (No, this doesn’t show bias, this is just my personal opinion) When I was a first year student, I was totally amused by everyone in this department. My first impression is, “Wow, this College is like a comedy show”, there are a lot of people with sense of humor. They serve as the ice breakers in every situations. The older batch is very friendly as well. They always bring laughter to anyone. They never forget to paint a smile on my face each day. This college never gets boring because of the confidence anyone has within them. CAS proves to me that living life is fun and we’re here to give our share of the world’s delights. This is a home of friendliest people. Oh come on, just notice the smiles that we give to others! It’s an inspiration! For example, you have a problem/depressed/stressed and someone smiles at you like that, it’s energizing. Right?

Everyone see we’re always together. And anyone would ask how can we be that close? Just let me state for a record, we’re giving love in a family dose~ That’s the unique quality that no college can ever have. We’re united. Some colleges don’t know someone from the same college that they’re in. It’s like “Do you know her?” and they would say “No, I don’t. Totally.” and from that I realize that CAS is the tightest college I’ve known. We know each other, if we don’t know each other and we are interested to be friends with that person, we say “Hi!”, smile then wave to that person, when that person waves back and smiles, then the friendship starts! That’s how easy it is for us. We’re very approachable. And one thing, we have cooperation when there’s a project. Just like from what we experienced, when a section has a project and they need our coordination, we give our full effort to help them. It’s like we’re all in this together, (sometimes, some voluntarily helps and it’s so overwhelming). As a result, they give us back the gratitude that they had with us. You can only find this kind of environment in CAS.

The members are also active, cooperative, fun, talented and confident. And talking about confidence, CAS helps me boost out the confidence within me. When I was in High School, I didn’t get to perform in different events and I don’t participate that much in the activities but now, CAS taught me how to show my talents and share them to other people with full pack confidence. We don’t let anyone down, we always cheer them up. We let them bear in mind that they got something and in CAS, we don’t let a single fella be alone, we are a family, we should all be together. Through this department, I became more confident about myself, (well not all the time) but because of the positive energy that I get from my friends, I tend to insist that I am confident! It’s mind over matter! They help me believe in myself more and not listen to what others will say! They taught me how to fight for what I really want.

CAS is the combination of everything. We are friendly, we are smart, we are talented, we are confident, we are cooperative, we are polite, we are courteous, we are good-looking, we are sweet and most of all, we are competitive (in a good way). All that you’re looking for is all here. FRIENDLY-We show concern to each other when someone is in need, we are all companions in every thing. You can see people from other section being a friend to a person from another section too! It’s how united we are. We are friends to each other. And everything about this starts with a first move! SMART- We think of ways (madiskarte) we are resourceful. Being smart is not only about academics stuffs, (but it also applies) but it also talks about how creative we are to different things. TALENTED- Everyone in this department has a talent, may it be hidden or shown. CONFIDENT- It is clearly seen, in every talk shows in our school, there’s always a CAS student hosting it. We are always taking the lead when it comes to programs. And without confidence, we can’t show our talents, thankfully we had it. lol COOPERATIVE- just like what I said, we always help each other. POLITE & COURTEOUS- we have respect for each other and to the professors. GOOD-LOOKING- All of us have some looks and we’re all pretty and handsome in our own ways! SWEET- We serve as a shoulder to lean on to our friends and we are always there for the members of this family. COMPETITIVE- Based from what I learned during the PEP days, “We may be few but we’re dangerous”.

The reason maybe why I keep still in this department is because of the irreplaceable act of kindness it gives to other people. Honestly, other departments don’t do this. I am proudly saying that this is the friendliest among the rest. This is a home of the best people. These are the reasons why I don’t hesitate not to transfer to other course because I love where I am right now. This is the only department where I get that big love and understanding and so as a payback, I give them what they deserve as well. CAS is like my second family in our school, because they also act like one to me. Seriously, CAS is the best!

Week 4: Ethical blasts

First of all, to tell the truth of what happened last September 10, ‘11, the speaker was late so we waited for like an hour before he arrives, we watched a movie to kill the running time which is not actually my intention why I go to school. So obviously, this is just me being honest because this is a blog which will state my “reaction” to the seminar. Well, that’s it, I’m a bit disappointed. When he arrives at the AVR, I was very happy knowing that at last, this day won’t end useless! I noticed that he wasn’t able to prepare a visual aid for the said seminar, (maybe yeah, there’s one ppt, a one slide ppt presentation, it only states the title which is “Direct Marketing: A Step Up Towards Ethical Selling”) and so I thought he’ll be a good speaker and he’ll pull it off through the way he speaks and teaches. Then he (Mr. Bryan Luther Sadsad) started talking… He was the serious type of guy but due to my expectations because of the last speaker that we encountered, I was like “…”. But anyway, I still tried to listen and adapt things in mind for me to learn.

He commonly talks about how do we improve our marketing, of how do we advertise. He taught us about E-mail blasting or the advertisement through e-mail. They send e-mails to their target market. He said that “As a market person, we should be flexible.”, of course they must have different connections to spread the business. But based on others’ opinions, this is way too unethical, because yeah, who would rather like being bothered by an e-mail that you received which you’re not even interested on the first place? Or who would not dislike when you kept on receiving it from time to time? People get irritated if you do it that way. But there is a possible way to get rid of it, there’s a direct mail, these are the mails sent to you that contains about shopping magazines, leaflets and many more, in this kind of advertising, you will be able to specify your target market and you’ll be able to monitor your customers. It’s like when you’ll be selling make-ups, of course you won’t sell it to a guy, you will send mails only for girls. For example, you should send mails to a 20+ when you’re selling a Television. It is one way to know what kind of people will suit to buy your product. In a clearer definition, it is more of a ‘Give what they(customers) want through doing some research on a target market or particular group of people that you want to have your products sold’. You can also possibly know their feed backs through the demographics which will help you improve.

Then we talked about Text blast, he introduced us the program/software “Busybee” which is in charged of text blasting. Because of it, they were able to spread out the ad by sending it to members. There are the log sheets to know if they’re interested. But of course, there’s a voice mail blast as well and a traditional way, pyramiding which is advertising a product face to face to the customers. Business as what I’ve learned before won’t work without the specified customers or connections that will help your business grow larger. “The more the database, the more the promos. The more the promos, the more the database.” -Mr. Bryan (the speaker) He mentioned that internet is the most effective way of how to advertise because it’s the most possible way on how to spread the words quickly.

So talking about being ethical, from what I’ve learned, it is the usage of appropriate language, and it also occurs through the medium you used. The speaker said that when the respondent said something rude, just reply in a nice way or don’t get affected, remember, you are holding a reputation so just keep quiet and don’t react. Sometimes, he said, that when the respondents are repeatedly asking a question that has already been answered, it sometimes irritates him yet he has to end up as a nice person in his replies because he has to be ethical. It’s like, show some values to the customers so the customers will pay you back with values too. Just like in business, it’s a give and take, not only when talking about the money, but also in ethics. He shared us one of his experiences about his FB fan page, (SM San Pablo) and there are some who are leaving the page, maybe it’s because they realized that they’re not interested by the promos and the post the page provides or they get irritated by the continuous posts about various events that are soon to happen which bugs their notifications. If you are a business man, you have to accept the downfall too because you can’t please anybody. You just have to serve them with manners and that’s it.

That’s actually the majority of what I’ve learned in the whole seminar. There are new words that I knew and very thankful because my knowledge about business was increased again! Haha. And knowledge doesn’t only talk about the mind but also the heart. Although the atmosphere out there was kind of dull… (there are a lot of dead airs when he’s in front) I still manage to learn something. (I just don’t know why we still came out not participating in the end if we really don’t have something to ask? Why force ourselves? lol) It’s all clear. I learned about the ethical ways on how to do advertising. It will help me a lot to apply this on the future. I assure to serve my customers the right way and the polite way in doing advertising. So as a closing remark, all in all, the seminar was okay. I was able to apply my stock knowledge about “Law and Advertising” under Sir Roque. Good thing I knew about these things because it will very much useful to anyone who’ll be doing business (everyone of us will do) in the future.

Week 3: Innovative Effects of Sales Techniques

Before the seminar, I was really clueless about the topic of the speaker. The speaker appeared on the front and then she started preparing her visual aid. I saw the topic and I was like “Ohh. So that’s why it relates to us.” It’s all about Business stuffs. She actually told many topics that are already familiar to us because of the course that we just took the hour before. Yes, she was right, Business is a jungle, it’s more likely, a key to survival. Businesses provides Corporate Image, from what I understood, it’s the tool they used so customers will have a mental picture of what they stand for. Corporate Image is actually about a perception and impression of an organization by the public, the composite psychological impression that continually changes, image of what a company stands for and how the market place really feels about you. It’s the perception people have of your business when they hear your company name, this is close to “brand recognition”.

Next topic that was discussed was about, Corporate Identity, they’re more likely the company logos and how you want your business to look for the consumers. Every person has an image to protect and so Business also has. Then she lets us watch a video which is about networks, CISCO, in particular, it says how it shares ideas immediately. It is a business of doing business and that’s how it leads to the Communication and Advertising. Communication is very important to business because it helps in building relationships to your customers. And they could all be possibly done through Public Relation programs. Public Relation is the quality of content, it is the management of a company’s public image that helps the public understand the company and its products. Take note, anyone can buy advertising space but not just anyone can earn the respect of media in order to establish an effective Public Relation.

She taught us the effects of Sales Techniques and here enters the Trade Fairs, it’s more likely, promoting their business to other businesses why Businesses join Trade Fairs. This is where Competitor Check is also done. She also talks about the Undercover Marketing also known as Marketing Incognito, it’s when people are not aware that they’re marketing. We also had Buzz and Viral Marketing, “Buzz” is the word of mouth marketing strategy or manner. Viral Marketing reaches your target market, it spreads exponentially and it passes on a message. As for many people asked what’s the difference between Viral and Buzz Marketing during the seminar, it was explained that Viral is more of the digital process or marketing done through computer technology, Viral which is like a Virus that spreads faster than a buzz while Buzz on the other hand, is the traditional way of marketing, like going to customers personally or using PR’s.

She let us watch many videos, it’s like more than 5, some of them are cut because of the time pressure that it gives to the speaker, yet it’s still quite impressive how she explains it to us and we completely understand even in a short amount of time that was given. All of the videos were interesting and it provides a lot of information which is very beneficial to us, Marketing students. It is definitely a seminar to remember. The speaker was fun too, she has the sense of humor that kept the students’ minds active and focused on her. I admire her attitude and her way of speaking in front, full of confidence, a good example for us who will or might also become like her. In summary, all of the things that weren’t clear to my mind were now clearly understood and all thanks to the detailed information that she provides and videos that consist examples that made it MORE clearer to me. I am expecting to have another fun speaker for the next seminars and to gain knowledge more about business.

It was a successful seminar for me after all.

Week 2: My Long weekend plan

This weekend isn’t long for me at all. Even if there are 5 days without classes, there are still loads of things to do. I know! I’ve been stressing myself which is wrong. I don’t know, I think I just got that nature in mind to work and work, that there are a lot of things to do and I got to finish them as soon as possible, I got to help, I got to do it right and everything and that’s all because of the pressure I got. Pressure, yeah, let’s leave it private “why”.

My plans this weekend are being ruined one by one but the first thing I did was to sleep and gain the energy that I lost last week because of the hell it gives. Every works that I did of course consists of my own hard works, everybody else does. Honestly, when someone told me that there will be no classes for Monday and Tuesday and we’ll have a 5 day vacation, I was like “Yay! Rest! Uh wait no, Aw! Projects!” I know, Psh. college life, right? Haha. I have to face it and be more matured. Anyway, I listen to praise songs for me not to lose myself completely! Kidding! The lyrics are just so encouraging that’s why.

Okay, seriously, my plans are to edit pictures for photography, shoot for photography, do the thesis for Sociology this Monday night, do the Big Book for Philippine Literature and also I have to update my 2 months left not updated fanfiction and to paint my 3 month uncolored supposed-to-be painting of mine in a canvas, but that goes for my leisure, they could be optional. Because yeah, priorities first. There’s always a time for everything. But inside my mind to be true, “I really want to paint and update my fanfic! As in now! Ugh. I miss this old habit!” but life changes when I step to my second year life. I was still…”still” wishing that there will be a free time or even a week for me to do things that I want not only things that I need. It’s just so sad to know that I left my happiness on the other side because of my busy life.
But anyway, I will still try to do them at the same time while I’m doing my projects so I won’t be stressed that much. Doing the things that you want decreases stress. I hope I can finish them this whole weekend because actually, there’s one thing that keeps on bothering me. It’s our TV, I don’t know why but I kept on watching like a noob or a caveman who haven’t watched TV before. I mean, man, I missed watching this channel and that channel, the movies and everything! I love my remote, alright we’re getting off the topic.

Really, but oh, another bonus, my mom told me “Magpahinga ka naman. Nuod tayo sine.” and I said “Ihh madami ako gagawin eh.” and she replied “Super busy na ba? Matulog ka man lang!” and I became happy because it’s my mom’s demand! Haha! I obeyed her. (no, but I just really want to rest that time honestly. lol) SHE’S RIGHT. It’s like saying, oh screw those things! Leave time for yourself! And I have to take care of my health as of now because it’s getting uhh… let’s say… a little bit worse. Okay, so right now, I’m gonna do my Sociology project and my fanfic. (I’m home alone! Yay! No distractions so far. Woo) And oh, the seminar. I wasn’t able to attend too just like the others because I woke up late, I was knockout the night before and when I woke up it’s raining really hard and I heard there’s a typhoon. I want to go but my body is just sooo… tired. And my parents told me that I shouldn’t abuse my body, if I can’t, then don’t force it.
Sad that I didn’t go.

Week 1: Reaction to the new groupings

First of all, when Ms. A told us that we will have our new groupings, I got nervous and a little bit excited at the same time. I am a little bit sad being separated from my old group but that’s totally fine with me. I understood the point clearly. We should try to interact with others, learn from one another, not just from selected people. I also noticed that some of the class are only depending on the top experts when it comes to video editing which make the editors (top experts that I’m talking about) suffer at night just to finish the whole presentation. Even me, I don’t like that system. Not only because I am concerned to them, (but yes I am concerned to them) but I always think about myself, that “what am I going to learn in this way?”, it’s like the whole year has passed without me, knowing how to do this certain effects using softwares.

Honestly, at first when the experts are grouped as one, I thought it’s unfair but NO, I realized that it will benefit the whole class. I just hope that the efforts of the other groups who tried their best to learn this or that will be much appreciated. In fact, I thought at first that it would be better if we chose our own group mates but I go to both sides, it’s either no or yes. Yes, because we could make projects easily because we’re always together in school and we have compatible ideas. No, because we should try working with others. Well, the “yes” one was just my opinion and some’s opinion too. I just shared what’s on my mind and I believe that nothing’s wrong when it comes to personal opinions.

We all have different expertise in multimedia, not just video editing, so I am very excited to see what will the result look like. I think in this way, we will be able to express more of what we want the video to look like not only by leaving it all to the editors. I believe that the class has a lot of talents to show and the time is NOW. I also believe that there are NO weaklings or useless people in the class, they have something within them which is better than the others, the only problem is, because we’re grouped with inequalities, we seem to be dependent on one another. I hope that this time we will work altogether and cooperate AND LEARN.

In my new group, together with Jonathan and Raymond, I think it’s good. I don’t underestimate people, I know they’re both awesome and beneficial. Dealing with them is an exciting activity for me. We have mutual minds too so we share the same ideas or if not the same, we are open to each other’s ideas. I am looking forward for the success of this new group. I hope everything will turn out right.

And for the other groups, Good Luck to all of us, we can do this! It is an open gate for us to learn, to enhance our talents, to prove ourselves, to be independent, to be cooperative and to be efficient in our field. I hope that through this way, we would not only move for the grades but also for our self learning. We should value more our experience and professionalism in making this project. I hope that a lot will change IN A GOOD WAY and make PROGRESS until no one’s left “not cooperating”. Again, Good Luck to all! :)

“Business Is Around The Globe”

From what I’ve understood, Information System is the use of information technology in people’s activities to support operations and management. It is frequently used to refer to the interaction between people. It is very relevant to convergence. Information systems are the main source of business nowadays, in different places and industries. Without the use of IT, business will be beyond belief. IT is a large role in terms of business because it increases productivity. Even if IT has been more of the goods and services, when it is put together with the changes in management, it provides a better basis for new services, products and ways or strategies in accomplishing business with a lot of advantage.

People use information system to achieve higher levels or position in accordance to the efficiency and productivity. Like when you’re working in a supermarket and a customer purchases an item, the supplier is monitoring the item and they know when to put another replacement item to the shelf. In that way, when everything is in a process, business will be organized.

Since it’s a major tool for firms to create products and services, it’s like when a product is available online. It depends on how a company distributes its product to gain wealth. Information System also takes hold of the customer and supplier intimacy, because let’s say for example, In a hotel, they use information technology to keep in tact with the customers that checked in and check them from time to time through the computers/technological devices whether they’re all right, they want food or the temperature of the room is alright. ”The more a business engage its suppliers, the better the suppliers can provide vital inputs. “

On the other hand, information systems also helps in decision making, well in every decision making that occurs, business lies within. Information system made it possible for business men or market managers to use real time data when making decisions for it gives precise information on customer complains and through the use of it, they could easily identify what effort needs to be repaired and restored. When the rest of the uses/advantages of Information System(Operational Excellence, New products, services, business models, customer/supplier intimacy and improved decision making) was attained, it means that they are already competitive enough or what we say “competitive advantage”. You should improve the distribution of your products and lessen the charges, responding to the customers in all up to higher sales, improve your services, and give higher profits. In short, your goal now is to become better than the other companies by doing things better than your competitors.

Information System has been a day to day survival because without the use of it, business won’t probably grow this much. This obligations by industry level changes. For example, a bank advertised through higher service levels, and so the customers rushed to provide an ATM to the customers to keep them up with that bank providing ATM services to trade banking customers is the most concrete example in the retail banking business. Firm -> Information System and Technology -> Capabalities to respond to these.

In my personal opinion, in general, Information System and Technology is a BIG HELP, for it provides systematical flow of a business. Through the use of Information System, customers are easy to be monitored and it gives an easy access to the global buyers of your products. It is building a relationship between the buyer and the seller in the easiest way. It is also effortless for a business company to know what the customer claims about, what do they want and many more. Through the use of the internet, you can buy anything as well, they’re just one click away! Nah-ah! But not everything is safe to buy. Sometimes, information systems are dealing with evil intentions to the customers. Well anyway, information system benefits the worldwide from its functions and everything. It arises at the same time with the modern life/technology and it became more convenient in application to business.

Making a unbeaten business through the use of Information Technology depends on how you manage or handle “everything”, if you are good at it, therefore it will be as flourishing as what you want it to be.

My Perception to Business

Business for me is the way of how people circulate money. It is the trade of goods and services to costumers. It is used to sell products and services to consumers all over the globe. Business is very wide. It is everywhere. There is business all over the internet, by stalls, in the malls and many more. It could be business to business transactions, business to consumer, customer services or for advertising. Business can be done in workplaces. Business is not a simple thing that anyone could take it easy for. Business is a cycle of money. It’s like “give and take”. If the public view your commerce in the positive light, you will receive customers you need in order to stay in business.

But it’s not always easy to stay in business to be honest. Money should be used wisely in terms of business. Business men must know how to do social interaction to the people or to his target audience. He should be able to convince his customers and that is through his own ways in order to gain the profit that you wished. Business always starts with a small corporation. It is the people who are doing it that is making it bigger. Business is about managing how the money should enter and how it should be spent. So if you’re not good in managing, you might fail on doing business.

Doing business is also for the common good of the people. For example, selling products that the public will surely benefit. Business could be agricultural, to manufacturers, real estates, retailers, transportations, utilities and many more. Business could improve anyone’s life but before that, you must exert most of your efforts first before achieving the things that you wanted. Business is like a chain of commands, it is privately owned by a company or a single person and it is administered to earn profit and to increase the wealth of their owners. Hence, they will also get something from what they did.

Business is strongly focused on money. Without money, there will be no business done. Without business, money won’t run correctly. For me, it is a gateway to information and services to assist business people in their dealings. Good business is attainable for the wise business people and success is easy to be accessed through your own hard works and on how you run it.

My Reaction about SONA

Are we really into CHANGE?

I wasn’t able to watch neither the SONA nor the news about it. I just read it from the internet and of course as a living person in the society, I’m pretty much aware of what’s happening under his presidency. I have read this article and everything that he stated. Well, I do not oppose to those. He said the things that he was able to improve in every corners of our country and even if I didn’t see everything that he did, I sincerely trust him. He mentioned the wang-wang, not only the literal wang-wang on the roads but the mentality that it sends to people right now. To the people who have this position and trying to lead everyone through his/her authority. It is wrong for people to hold his authority against anybody! Because of that, I like the message that he left in his SONA. He clearly said it straight. I found his every word truthful and heartfelt.

Some people say that PNOY hasn’t done anything yet. “WALA PA SYANG NAGAGAWA”. What do they know? How would they know? Are they part of the Congress? Did they witness everything? Do they know the real life of a president? Okay so I’m not a president, but it’s NOT EASY! Do you think one man could do it all for you? I don’t know, I just hate those people who quickly judge someone without putting himself/herself to his shoes. For me, I am very contented to everything that he said in his SONA. I can really see the difference of now to the condition of our country before. Because of the improvements and achievements that he made, it made me feel that it is possible that he can raise Philippines’ economy once again. People say that he is making a slow development towards this issue but CHANGE is not a race to win, but a progress to attain. And progress is not that easy to accomplish especially if the people are not collaborating. We couldn’t only depend on President Aquino himself, we should also do our part!

There are many people who command as if they can handle everything. Yes, his first SONA states that he lets us be his boss, but don’t take it too much as if you rule the whole world. Remember, there are things that are easy to say but hard to do. So make sure that when you say something, you can do it by yourself too. Anyone who sits in the position of a president can’t run the country perfectly, it relies on the people if we’ll cooperate or not. I believe that PNOY can recover our country by depending on God and by his strong faith. I trust him that he won’t do corruption until the end of his term. I hope so he will. But sometimes, I wonder, where will he get the money for building this and that? (like from what he said in his SONA) Since I trust his presidency to be descent and honest, he would make way not to get money from his people. I hope that he would make ALL his promises come true too.

I honestly hate people who are aggressively mad at him, saying that it has been a year and it’s still the same. I know they have some point with that but the reason why they can say those things is because they cannot see what are the good things that he has already done in our country, they can only see the flaws that are happening in our government. They love to point fingers without even realizing that, “What about you? Have you done something?” The people who are rallying, they are just worsening the situation to be true. If they want to fight for something, start it with themselves, do something that would lead you to what you want to happen. The problem is people are ALWAYS blaming it to the government even if it’s already not the government’s fault. It’s already from the individual itself. I want people to stop pointing fingers, judging PNOY and just wait until his term is done. F.Y.I, He’s just starting. This is just the start. Don’t put everything in a hurry! I agree that it is more possible to make stupid things through fast decisions, well not to say… but our former president proves it so. What PNOY is doing right now, is just right for me.

There is an improvement. We can’t just see it because we’re busy. BUT PNOY is extra (super extra) busy than us, so be in his shoes and you’ll see not everything you see is what is seems. Filipino people have raised their hopes to PNOY upon changing our country. It is a total pressure for President Aquino I guess, but he still never lets our hopes down and he is still going. I repeat, PNOY is just one man. He can’t serve you everything as fast as you want him to be. Let us just be patient! Let us work hand in hand and see the real change altogether at the same time with him! Don’t just let PNOY move, let US move!

My second home

Okay, so the title might be too common for you all to see/read but based on my opinion, it doesn’t represent shallow thoughts but it has all the deeper meanings. It is in fact, my second home. As we all know, our school is our second home. For me, it is more than that. On my first year life, I encountered new people once again, new personalities, new faces and new environment. At first, it became hard for me to adjust on the first three days but after those, I already became comfortable to anyone. I got together with my set of friends. I am very happy to meet these people with different personalities but still mixing up well.

This is actually the best section I’ve ever had. We are the type of students who are widely awake at night and sleepy/zombies in the morning. When you want to figure out MMA students and differentiate them from other students in the school, you can simply identify us through the dark circles in our eyes, done! XD We are the workaholics, facing our computers/laptops/iPads? everyday! That’s our daily life. And when the dark comes, there we go, being active all around the social networking sites, or might be doing projects, assignments and a lot more. We are the ones who help each other in every given projects, supporting each other in times of needs. If there’s not enough time to finish a project, we won’t sleep. We cram, we rush things, but we still finish them, maybe that’s what makes us unique and weird at the same time. They say artists are weird, and so are we! :))

But, we’re not just one of those techy dudes, computer geeks, of course, we are outgoing too, we never set aside the fun whenever we’re doing anything. We play silly jokes, play games, sing altogether, dance like there are no people watching and everything. This class is a perfect combination of people, there are people who love to play tricks and make people laugh, or also known as the “icebreakers” of the class, there are also the wild types, the kpop addicts (me!), the naughty ones, the mushrooms (the ones who are sometimes absent and sometimes not) and many more. (They are too many to specify) We get along behind our different attitudes, though sometimes we experience conflicts, but we always resolve them and act like nothing happened. That’s why, right now, we’re all still FRIENDS above all! Wee :)

This is the section that whenever we have a project, we do it in someone else’s house and do it overnight (with or without sleep). This is the training ground for the world after college, yes, we know. But the way how we spent our time together behind the stressful week/month will be one of the unforgettable memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. In this section, you will see people without sleep but still energetic the day after(Well… some…). We give smiles to others, we receive smiles too. We make people laugh and comfort them when they’re sad because that’s what friends are for. This section is not just a class, more than friends too, it’s more like a FAMILY to me. Everyone is my siblings. We accept each other for what we look like and for who we are.

I am also very thankful to be in a circle of friends(Teletubbies), with positive people.(opposing to me who is a pessimist) They make me survive the rest of my college life, make me forget all my worries in a day because of our endless laughter. Anyway, I want to thank MMA for being such a supportive family to me. They have been one of the reasons why I’m still going. I’m overwhelmed to know that now that we’re on our second year, we’re still the same and intact to each other. And now, that there’s a new batch (1st year students), it is more fun knowing that our community is getting larger! Another new friends! No, but really, I’m very contented with my course and with this section, even if it’s hard and complicated at times, as long as I have my friends with me, my inspirations and this class, I can stand anything, even the most difficult situations that I will encounter soon. And just like what my friends say to me, “KAYA MO YAN!”, because of that, kakayanin ko!

HOW TO HANDLE UP’s and DOWN’s

I wrote this blog for the people who don’t understand why life gets unfair sometimes. People who had broken hearts and attempted suicides, people who do bad vise because of a particular reason, people who have heavy problems within them, whether family, love, friendship, financial and many more. There are a lot of them nowadays. It is very common especially to the teenagers. Why? Because teenagers are still on the stage of adapting, recovering, developing so there are a lot of changes to our moods, decisions and way of thinking. Just to think out in the edge, it is quite normal for some to act like that, but it is not always “RIGHT”. No matter how young we are, we can think matured enough than anyone. Experiences enhances our maturity and so our mind.Maturity is not seen for what you act like but for what kind of decision that you made through the struggles that strike you.

Like when you have a problem, even if it’s so crucial and critical in some ways, let’s not think of something negative to do to our selves. Why do vise? Why commit suicide? Why destroy your own life? Those are the questions I have in mind. I know, I am not in the position to talk about these, because I haven’t felt it yet, because I did not feel the pain, because I did not experience it and so on. No, I did not say that I haven’t, I did not say that I did not feel the pain, and I did not experience, every person has their own stories to tell, problems that they are facing and I am one of them. But I am not doing vise, I am not committing suicide, I am not destroying my life. And yes, I am just another teenager too, just like anybody else but I did not do anything bad to myself because I decided not to. See the difference? Why always look on the dark side when you have a problem? Why not try to ask the guidance of GOD, pray and ask for help?

I am saying this because I want to make a change to our present society and inspire the one who is reading this. I want to stop the killing, I want to HELP. We grow old from different families, yes I know that. I may not know everything about anyone, I cannot read minds but I can observe. I may not have the rights to judge and correct someone but I am just a single person in this BIG WORLD that is somewhat CONCERNED, TRYING TO HELP and FIX FLAWS that I perceive. I want to send positivity to the hopeless, to the stressed people, to the problematic ones and to everyone (may go to you too) and tell them that there are more BETTER decisions that you can do. There are more options that you can take. Don’t run away from your problems, face it, take the risks and fight! We will gain from it anyway.

Emotions are powerful. They can override thoughts and profoundly influence our behaviors. But if you are emotionally intelligent, you can keep up the power of your emotions. Emotional intelligence isn’t a safety net that protects you from life’s tragedies, frustrations, or disappointments. We all go through disappointments, loss, and change. And while these are normal parts of life, they can still cause sadness, anxiety, and stress. But emotional intelligence gives you the ability to cope and bounce back from adversity, trauma, and loss. In other words, emotional intelligence makes you resilient.

Here’s a fact, I am NOT a positive thinker ALWAYS, I admit. I am a pessimistic person. BUT, I never did anything that will put my life into danger. I’m still around. If we learn how to control a situation, it is possible for us to move forward and not put ourselves deep down. I am one of those who think negatively, see things negatively, (sometimes) but I am trying to change it to myself too. I hope some will also do the same way. I am sorry, I am not perfect. My point is, my situation could be worse than anyone. Who knows? :D But I am still trying to survive the difficulties. I am sending this message for everyone and to myself as well. I hope next time, when people had a problem, they will know how to make decisions wisely, think positively and appreciate the essence of life. LIFE CONSISTS OF DOWNHILL AND UPHILL. When you are on the downhill, you have no choice left to do but to go uphill. It’s a cycle of life.

Youtube sensations

There are a lot of people showing up in the television, auditioning for a contest, and wanting to be recognized publicly. When they got noticed, they become celebrities. But let us see what lies behind all of those shining stars that we know. Because of the use of the internet/technology, people have created or made their own way of how to share their talents. Thank you for the social networking sites who help ordinary people be able to do the impossible things in an artistic way. “Youtube Sensations”, as what this blog is entitled with, the pictures from above are some of the youtube sensations that we’re talking about. Well, these might not be all of them but these are the people that I’ve known and I’ve idolized through the net.

Let me introduce you these people, if ever you don’t know them yet, (clockwise) Charice Pempengco (Filipino pride), Christina Grimmer, Ryan Nigahiga, Dave days, Chestersee, Jake Coco, David Choi and Megan Nicole. They are the talented people that I used to watch everyday, it’s like a habit. They are the people who have sense of humor that makes me laugh, talents that amaze me and entertain me. It inspires me too, they make me want to try what they did. I came to appreciate what they do because it’s also a form of art, showing your talents is a form of art. I think without using Youtube (social networking site), I won’t be able to meet them. It is an advantage to know these awesome dudes and girls around the world through the internet. But take note, these people weren’t even known before or even now(?), only youtubers know them. I was like “Why don’t they see that there are more talented people than the ones who are famous right now?”

Why? Like what happened to Charice Pempengco, would she be popular worldwide without Oprah? Actually, internet helps access to things like this. So technology is an advantage, see? Well I think, there are more people hiding with their great talents. Great writers, great songwriters, great singers, great musicians and great entertainers(that could be you) are sitting in front of their computers. Maybe because they want to remain hidden or they might also be assuming that someday, they’ll be discovered. They might be one of the people who are hoping that they’ll be given an opportunity like the famous ones right now. That is not bad. It is definitely not bad to dream of something, right? The things that they’re doing are influencing the society as well, in a good way. (Only if they share what they can in a good way too.)

Remember, these people started with nothing, they are also one of the ordinary person living in this world, they just tried and showed their talent to everyone and… yeah, they’re now a star, a youtube sensation, reaching millions of views and praises. It is indeed “WOW”, isn’t it? Being popular is a nice feeling especially if you’re known through your natural talents.

As a youtuber, and as a normal girl in this society, my main point of making this blog is to encourage talented people out there to show what they have. Who knows maybe tomorrow or the other day, you’ll be one of them, right? It is not impossible to be famous and of course, it is not impossible that no one would ever see you because technology made its way so. “What you put on the web, stays on the web” as what they say. Nothing is impossible now, people make it impossible for themselves. They should make it happen, if they want it. And from what Miss A said, “Think out of the box”, it is true, there are more things that you’re capable of, just explore what you have within you and share them to others, be proud!

If you fail so, we are all human, we commit mistakes but try and try. Technology is ready to help. Don’t be afraid of taking chances. We should take advantage that we’re now living in a modern era, that we now have these kind of gadgets which will be the key to our success, unlike before that you have to do the harder way just to be recognized. Show others that you can do better, or if not better, you can do it ALSO.

LOVE.COM (In terms of relationships)

You might be wondering because of the title. Well, it actually explains this topic. Most of the couple or relationship today comes from the advantage of the usage of technology. Young generation are exposed to modern technology so they get to socialize with people too through it. They meet people, they talk to people through social networking sites or even phone communication. When opposite sex meet and attract, they tend to develop feelings for each other through chat or text. This is actually affecting our society and our old culture. This is bugging me in many ways. Although, there are advantages but there are also disadvantages.

Let’s site the advantages. First, almost 70% of the couples now in the world meet through social networking sites or by texting. In fact, half of them are already married. Isn’t it wonderful to meet your other half with the use of technology? :) Second, some have been in a relationship and have tasted the love that they ever wanted. Third, it helps you connect with someone you love whether he/she is apart or from the other country. Lastly, it helps people to get information from each other easily and instantly.

But behind all of that, this also leads sometimes to bad. Why? Courtship happens also in the area of technology. It may be appropriate in the eyes of others but in my own opinion, I think it’s just NOT right. Yes you get to know each other by mobile/computer devices, but isn’t it BETTER if you knew him/her personally and you love him/her by knowing his or her personality first? Things like, going out with him/her, knowing his/her flaws, accepting his/her imperfections, loving him/her above all. That’s what you call TRUE LOVE. I just don’t like what’s happening in our society that people are having their relationships without even seeing his/her mate in person. It’s a bit… uhh… childish, immature, unreal… again, that’s for me. I respect others’ opinion about this.

This might also be one of the reasons why relationships don’t last that long(some). Break ups become easy too because of technology. In some cases, it helps, like having a connection with your partner and you get updated anytime and many more. But what happened to the old culture, the old way of courting, or shall I say, the more sincere way of showing your affection to the one you love? Instead of doing that, they switched to just chatting, texting and asking his/her out through that. Because of technology, people apply less effort when it comes to these things. I know, not all that technology brings are disadvantages, it also helps us to socialize with people, to connect, to communicate which is interesting, right? It makes people know more about each other. But my main point is, let us not try to ignore what the real essence of love is. It’s not about chat, it’s not about text, it’s not about a single call, it’s not about words… if you really want a serious relationship, if you really love someone…

that’s simple… SHOW IT.

Traditional Artists v.s Digital Artists

Traditional art is what most people think of as “art.” Drawing, painting, old fashioned darkroom photography, printmaking, lithography, sculpture and pretty much anything else you do with your own two hands are all considered traditional art while digital art, by contrast, is artwork made on a computer.

More often than not, these days, artists are blending the two mediums to create a hybrid of traditional and digital media. For example, in my own work I will often use a pencil or pen to hand draw an image (traditional art) and then scan it and color it in the computer (digital art). Therefore artists can be completely traditional or digital or any combination of the two.

A traditional artist is supposedly sad, angsty or scatter brained. They are often portrayed as bleeding hearts, radical left-wingers and angry at the world. Digital artists, by contrast, are often assumed to be geek, obsessed with technology and excessively sheltered from the world outside their computer monitors. There are some things that lend themselves to these ideas. It takes a lot of emotional connectedness and creativity to continuously come up with interesting material. For digital artists, it is very necessary to immerse yourself in a whole new set of vocabulary and techniques that sometimes make people feel like outsiders during normal conversation.

As for actually making an artwork, it is surprising how similar digital and traditional art really are. The main issue about this one is the decreasing numbers of traditional artists and the increasing number of digital artists. Who would choose to find hard time just to finish an art if there’s an easier and faster way to do it, right? That is the reason why people are switching to digital art. It is cooler, more amazing and many more, as they see it. I cannot deny, as an artist, it is indeed eye catchy. People follow the trend in technology. We’re now living the modern era so we’re using the modern technology and gadgets as well. Do you remember one of the most famous paintings of Leonardo Da Vinci, “Mona Lisa”? There are a lot of awesome painters like him in every corners of the world but they remained unnoticed. They don’t get that much attention compared to the digital artworks. Digital artworks have more capabilities to be recognized, because it can be uploaded in the computer right away and then it can be advertised too. I know some would also choose to be ‘techy’.

Digital arts and Traditional arts have their own difficulties. Both forms of art can be highly frustrating and highly rewarding by turns. It all depends on your mood and the end result you have in mind. It is not easy to make an artwork in the computer and it is a lot harder to make it manually on a canvas or a paper. Computer has an ‘undo’ button when you got mistaken but in hand, the artwork would look a little bit messy when you erase. But when you master either one of these two, there is no word such as ‘hard’ to you now. I’m just a bit sad because I’m wondering, where are the traditional artists nowadays? Will they remain as the ‘rare kinds of art’?

Yes, art is dynamic, art is flexible. I know that time by time, it evolves. But I just hope that traditional arts won’t be forgotten. As a multimedia artist, I am not just in favor of digital arts. I will still patronize the traditional arts. We, artists, have our own creativity in mind, wild imagination and perfect hands. We can apply them to both. Art doesn’t only apply to a single subject. It applies to many. These days when technology is well-known, let us not forget where we all started. Let us teach the next generation to do hand drawn images and not just digital images, let us lead them. What are the famous paintings in the ancient period for? They start it, we, co-artists, should follow. Let us not lose the routine of the art, though it changes, it is not bad to look back, right?
